Kathy T. Knox, DDS – Dentist / Owner

I began my career in dentistry as a dental hygienist in 1981 when I graduated from Southern Illinois University with an A.S. Degree in Dental Hygiene. I worked in both general and periodontal practices for many years.

I graduated from Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine in May 2003 and was a resident for one year at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, NY. I continue my education every year, beyond state requirements.

I started Otego Family Dental P.C. in April 2010. I’ve been building the practice and my team ever since.

I purchased a second dental practice in November 2018. The Oneonta office is manned by my son, Alexander J. Knox, DDS. It is my goal for the Oneonta office to operate with the same philosophy as the Otego office.

I’m very happy to be living and practicing in Otego and I look forward to many years here. I enjoyed decorative painting for many years and plan to resume painting soon

Dr. Kathy is a member of: American Dental Association, NYS Dental Association, 6th District of the NYS Dental Association,  Academy of General Dentistry, and Rotary International. She is past-president of the Rotary Club of Unadilla 2019-2020, a Paul Harris Fellow and is a supporter of the Harris Memorial Library in Otego.

Alexander J. Knox-Kocieniewski, DDS

Dr. Alex grew up in Albany, New York and later moved to Cobleskill. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering at the Inamori School of Engineering at Alfred University. Later, he attended Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine to earn his doctorate in Dentistry.

In dental school, he was honored with the opportunity to treat the Oglala Sioux Tribe on the Pine Ridge Reservation. He fabricated over 20 dentures with the help of Stony Brook faculty and fellow classmates.

Dr. Alex completed a one year residency at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola after which, he moved to Oneonta, NY to join his mother’s (Dr. Kathy Knox) practice, Otego Family Dental.

Dr. Alex is excited for the opportunity to work with the community and provide up to date dental services. He is committed to life-time learning which is needed to provide the best care for his patients.

Dr. Alex lives in Oneonta with his husband, three cats (Cato, Duncan and Ellie) and two dogs, Jeffrey and Twyla.

Dr. Alex is a member of: American Dental Association, NYS Dental Association, and the 6th District of the NYS Dental Association.
